Cutting from "The Catholic Standard", Dublin, of 5th May, 1954.
Photograph, taken in 1898, of the Feis Ceoil prize-winners’ choir, Christian Brothers’ School, St. Mary’s Place, Dublin, which formed the nucleus of the Pro-Cathedral Palestrina Choir. The late Dr. Vincent O’Brien, Musical Director, is at the right of the picture. Among the boys are Mr. Joseph O’Brien, now Principal, Dublin Municipal School of Music; the late Harry O’Dempsey, Mr. W. J. Lemass, and others afterwards prominent in Irish musical life.
William Francis Toolan, son of Martin and Bridget Toolan attended St. Mary's place School and was a member of the Choir under Dr. Vincent O'Brien. He cannot be identified with certainty in the above photograph, but he may be the second boy on the left in the front row.
