Monica Mary Toolan
Monica Mary Toolan, daughter of Martin and Bridget Toolan, born 1890 in Ireland, emigrated to the United States of America and died there on 18th April, 1960. For approximately 21 years before her death she lived at 58, Grammercy Road, Cynwyd (Gwynedd?), Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Her obituary notice gives her address as 200, Sabine Avenue, Narbeth, Pennsylvania. The Requiem Mass was in St. Robert's Church, Chester, Pa. and burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Ann Teresa Toolan Monihan's Family
Ann Teresa Toolan, daughter of Martin and Bridget Toolan, born 1881 in Ireland, emigrated to the U.S.A and married Dr. Daniel Monihan of Chester, Pa. She died on 3rd January, 1963. They had three children:
- Daniel J., junior,
- Maureen and
- Anne Patricia.
Dr. Daniel Monihan had offices at 9th Street and Morton Avenue in Chester for 30 years. He was on the staff of Taylor and Fitzgerald Mercy Hospitals. He died in June, 1934.
Anne Patricia Monihan, daughter of [Ann Toolan and] Dr. Daniel Monihan, died suddenly from a heart attack on 28th August, 1955. She graduated from Manhattanville High School and attended the College of Chestnut Hill. She was employed by the Suburban Travel Agency at Ardmore. She was a member of the Narbeth Ambulance Corps. Requiem Mass was in St. Robert's Church, Chester, and burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Ann Teresa Toolan (see above) graduated in 1910 from the Philadelphia
General Hospital School of Nursing. She returned to nursing in 1940 and was supervisor of men's medical section at Philadelphia General until she retired in 1955. Requiem Mass was in St. Robert's Church, Chester and burial was in the family plot in St. Michael's Cemetery, Chester. Her address at the time of her death was 200, Sabine Avenue, Narberth.
Daniel J. Monihan, junior, son of Ann Toolan and Daniel Monihan, served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring in 1961. He is married and has two sons. He lives in California, U.S.A.
Maureen Monihan, daughter of Ann and Daniel Monihan, married Vincent J. O'Leary (born 1903). He has no known Irish connections. He served in the Intelligence Section of the U.S. Navy and was on the Naval Reserve for upwards of 20 years. Following their marriage they lived at 310 N. Essex Avenue, Narbeth, Pa. Their first address in Cooperstown was Rd. 1, Lake Road. Later they moved to 46, Elm Street and when the family had left home they changed their residence to 42, Susquehanna Avenue. In 1984 they moved to 40, Delaware St., Cooperstown, New York 13326. Cooperstown is five hours by bus from New York City: there is no train connection. Vincent ("Vin") is a graduate in psychology and had a teaching appointment in Cooperstown.
Maureen and Vin have seven children:
- Jean Margaret, the eldest, probably born about 1939. Married Joseph J. McGlone, junior, on [deleted to preserve privacy], 1966 in Narbeth, Pa. Following their marriage they lived at 486 Keebler Rd., King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. In 1973 they lived in Scarsdale, New York (35 minutes by train from New York City). Joseph was employed by Hornblower and Heeke, Hall St., Scarsdale. Later he had his own stockbroking office in Westport, Connecticut.
Following her graduation from College, Jean taught deprived children for one year in Montgomery in Alabama. She later worked in Public Relations. In 1983 she commenced study for a Master's Degree in Guidance at the University of North Carolina. At College portrait painting was one of her interests.
Jean and Joseph have four children:- Monica (1967),

- and one other.
- Ann, born 1941. Married Chester J. Brown who is in Real Estate. Ann and Chester live in Greensboro', North Carolina.
They have two children- Chester 111 [sic, probably III] (born [deleted to preserve privacy], 1971, weighing two pounds, seven ounces) and
- Maureen Ann, born 1972 (?).
- John, born 1945. Worked in England for one year after graduation. He is a freelance artist in Philadelphia and an Art Teacher at the Taylor School of Fine Arts. He is unmarried (1984).
- Daniel, born 1946. Served in U.S. Army and later attended Pennsylvania State University. He was with the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1967 and visited Ireland. He is employed in Forestry in Kane, Pa. He is married and has two sons, the youngest of whom is named Ryan.
- Michael, born 1949. Served in U.S. Navy and later attended College, graduating in 1974. He and his wife, Debbie, are both Rangers in the National Park Service. They have one child Caitlín Áine, born [deleted to preserve privacy], 1984.
- Mary Susan, born 1952, married Dale and has two children, the younger of whom is Megghan, born in 1979. They live in Albany. She was employed by the Southern Bell, Charlotte.
- Margaret Loftus ("Peg"), born [deleted to preserve privacy], 1957. Visited Ireland and later graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Charlotte, North Carolina on [deleted to preserve privacy], 1980. Her address then was 124, N. Laurel Avenue, Charlotte.
