The Worns and Redmonds of Molesworth St., Dublin [Gen-046]
These families were cousins of the D'Arcys of Enniskerry Road but it has not been possible to establish the exact relationship.
There are two interesting points about the family as far as the genealogy of the Enniskerry Road D'Arcys is concerned. One of these is that the maiden name of Mrs. Austin Worn was "Upton" and the second is that her daughter Anne Mary married a Joseph Redmond. The significance of these two items is that the Uptons of Limerick were connected with the D'Arcys of the same county and that Honoria, sister of John D'Arcy the brewer, married a John Redmond. If it were established that the Worn/ Redmond families were connected with the Limerick Uptons or with Honoria D'Arcy Redmond, the possibility of a connection between the Enniskerry Road D'Arcys and the family of John D'Arcy the brewer and sometime Lord Mayor might not seem to be improbable.
Of course it is possible that any relationship between the Enniskerry Road D'Arcys and the Worn/ Redmond families was through Mary Connell D'Arcy or her mother, Mary Bourke.
Mrs. A.C. D'Arcy Rahilly remembers a tall, dark lady visiting her mother at Enniskerry Road. ("dark" refers to her clothes not her complexion!). This person invited Mrs. Rahilly to tea in 4, Molesworth Street, and must have been one of the Worns - either the mother Mary Anne or one of her daughters. Mrs. Rahilly was born in 1893. If it is presumed that she was at least 15 years of age when she got the invitation to tea (as she apparently went to Molesworth Street unaccompanied), the invitation must have been issued by Anne Worn Redmond or her mother about 1908. (The other daughters, Harriet and Emily, had married before 1908).
Mrs. Rahilly's mother was born in 1865. Mrs. Worn was born in 1845 (approx.) Anne Redmond was born in 1867. Thus she was a contemporary of Mrs. Rahilly's mother and at 39 years of age (in 1908) more likely to be visiting.
If Anne Redmond was visiting because of her relationship with the D'Arcys of Enniskerry Road, it might have been because her husband, Joseph Redmond was related to either Patrick D'Arcy or his wife or because her mother, Mary Anne Worn, formerly Upton, was related. (Mrs. Rahilly does not remember hearing any of these surnames.)
Mrs. Mary Connell D'Arcy did not approve of her husband's visiting No. 4 Molesworth Street (the reason for her attitude is not known) but he did so from time to time while Mrs. Worn and her daughter were alive. He usually brought his daughter, Mary, with him on these visits.
Mrs, Rahilly says that shortly after she joined the Telephone Service (about 1909) one of the senior girls told her that her cousins in Molesworth Street sent their regards. These cousins were no doubt the children of Joseph Redmond and Anne Mary Worn, the eldest of whom was two years younger than Mrs. Rahilly.
The following information is all that is known at present regarding the Worn/ Redmond families:

There is no trace of a Birth Certificate for Joseph Redmond, son of Philip Redmond, in the year 1864 in the General Register Office, Dublin. (An unnamed male infant was born in the Coombe Hospital that year but his father was Joseph Redmond, 4 North King Street, a carpenter.)
The following births are mentioned in the Baptismal Register of St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Westland Row, Dublin. There is no evidence to connect the parents with the Redmonds of Molesworth Street or with William Connell's mother, Ellen Walsh, or his wife, Mary Bourke.
