W.F. Toolan's Feis Ceoil Participation [Gen-051]

Andy Gilsenan, Events Manager at the Feis Ceoil Association in Dublin, provided the following information in August 2024, regarding William Toolan's participation in the Feis Ceoil competitions.

I went through old Syllabi and Winners listings and found that William Toolan won his bronze medal in 1901 for Boys Solo Singing.

I looked through following years' Winners listings, to see if he entered into the Tenor Solo as he got older, but his name didn't come up.

I attach the page from the 1901 syllabus which outlines what he would have had to perform in competition. I also attach a pdf of the Winners page from the 1902 syllabus, showing previous years' winners, including William's name.

Lastly I attach a piece from the 1902 syllabus which contains Denis O'Sullivan's adjudicator report on the vocal classes of 1901.
